Building Designer & CAD Draftsperson / Office Administrator / Partner-in-training
We are seeking a well-rounded person with a specific skill set and entrepreneurial aspirations.
Working alongside the current Building Designer / Office Administrator as she prepares for retirement, you will learn all aspects of these roles.

This contract position may evolve into a permanent, multi-year, share ownership opportunity.

Your responsibilities:
- interact with clients and professionals daily in a timely, professional, and courteous manner by phone and email
- maximize the potential of the free, 20-minute discovery session
- create British Columbia Building Code (BCBC) compliant CAD construction drawings that will be used for engineering review, building permits, estimating, and construction (from detailed design sketches with notes and/or client interaction)
- full office administration including: open and close the design studio daily, handle payments and deposits, organize jobs and files, and maintain administration and drafting supplies
You must:
- have a minimum of 5 years of residential drafting experience
- demonstrate a proven track record of successful client relations and exceptional office administration skills

CAD Draftsperson
We have an opening for a skilled CAD Draftsperson.
We prefer candidates who can work from the design studio, although we are comfortable with some remote work.
Compensation and work schedule will be discussed during an interview.
Your responsibilities:
- create British Columbia Building Code (BCBC) compliant CAD construction drawings that will be used for engineering review, building permits, estimating, and construction (from detailed design sketches with notes)
- meet agreed timelines and quality control
Client interaction and preliminary design work may also be required.
You must:
- be proficient in creating building plans, cross-sections, details, elevations, site data, site plans, and structural elements
- have an expert working knowledge of the current British Columbia Building Code (BCBC),
and ability to efficiently navigate Vancouver Island municipal and city building, zoning, and building scheme requirements - demonstrate clear communication and effective time management skills
You provide:
- your own computer and CAD software (Softplan or compatible preferred) for remote work
