Square One Design Ltd is operated by Designer Erin Tett, the protege since 2004 of founder Michael Ker. Michael started the business in the 80’s, designing more than a thousand unique and beautiful homes & businesses throughout the Cowichan Valley and beyond over more than 30 years until his retirement in 2015. At that time, Erin was promoted to lead designer to continue the tradition of creative design and hand drafting Square One Design is known for. She offers a wealth of expertise in this field, working with a full range of concepts and mediums to produce a creative, efficient design with a West Coast quality and style.
At your very first meeting, Erin will produce a sketch of your ideas, later incorporating them along with her input, into a working drawing that will one day be your new home! Once the preliminary design work has been completed and owner approved, complete building and site plans are completed in compliance with building scheme, local design requirements and the British Columbia Building Code, to submit for building permit/building scheme approval and construction.
If requested, we’ll engage and co-ordinate Archaeological, Biological and Land Survey consultants, Architects, Electrical and Mechanical design consultants, Building Envelope consultants, Structural, Geo-technical and Civil Engineers.
We have excellent relationships with the local Municipal & Regional Building and Planning Departments, so we can also assist in facilitating issuance of Building and Development Permits including variance and rezoning applications if necessary.
